6 Books That Will Actually Improve your Life this Year
New year, new you?
Well, you might be left feeling a little stuck on how to make that happen. I have gathered a few books that are practical applications for your everyday life.
Discerning the Voice of God
This is the “GO-TO” Bible Study I point friends to who are looking to deepen their relationship with God. Priscilla walks you through how to hear and see God working in your life. It is incredibly applicable and digs deep into the text!
Prayers on Fire
Oh man, I discovered this devotional just a few weeks before we first went to meet our sweet Zadie Ann. The daily devotions are formatted much like Jesus Calling and seriously make me think someone is reading my diary! The perfect way to start your day.
Rhythms of Renewal: Trading Stress and Anxiety for a Life of Peace and Purpose
This is the book on the way to my house as we speak. I have read Rebekah Lyons books since I was a teenager and she always has a way to speak right to my heart. We share a similar story of being surprised by how life changing anxiety attacks can be, but you don’t have to suffer from anxiety to need to hear her message of rest and purpose.
When Less Becomes More
I have been a “fan” and follower of Emily for over 10 years, back when she first made stationary. Since then, she has lead a new charge of inspiring women to live a more simplified life. I will admit that the message can be hard to swallow as a “more is more” person, but my soul recognizes the need for clarity and simplicity, and that is just what Emily’s guidance delivers.
Live in Grace, Walk in Love: A 365-Day Journey
In college, Bob Goff’s book Love Does changed my theology and how I look at everyone around me. His approach to loving people in crazy and endless ways has taught me the importance of grace and empathy in a new way. I look forward to getting this book as daily reminder to what is truly important.
The Book of Isaiah: The Vision (The Passion Translation)
It is said that if you could only read one book of the Bible and you wanted to get the “big picture” then your best choice is Isaiah. So we couldn’t have thought of a better book to study this year with Unapologetic Tribe. This is my favorite translation of the Bible’s book of Elijah with commentary. This will be the book I work from as we read through Isaiah this semester.
I hope you try one out, I don’t think you will regret it!
OXOX,
Kendall Mariah
